PRLog (Press Release) –
May 17, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA -- Dog News Daily, the popular online dog magazine, announced today the start of a California wide campaign to get the state legislator and Department of Motor Vehicles to authorize, create and sell a new special interest license plate as a means to help fund local and regional spay, neutering, and pet adoption programs during the state's current economic crisis.
As envisioned by Alan Siskind, the publisher of Dog News Daily, the special interest plate would include the words "Spay" "Neuter" "Adopt" "Love". For the actual design of the special interest plate, Siskind proposes a state-wide contest among elementary school students as a way to begin teaching children about responsible pet ownership at an early age.
According to Siskind, "the creation of a special interest license plate here in California is a no brainer and a win/win for everyone." He goes on to say, "Given both the current economic condition in California, and the growing need to spay, neuter, and adopt dogs and cats, approval of this special interest plate should come swiftly." Siskind expects the support of the Humane Society of the United States, spcaLA, ASPCA, PETA as well as all California public and private shelters and rescue organizations.
"Who in their right mind wouldn't be in favor of this proposal?" Siskind asked. Plans are currently underway to gain the immediate support of Governor Schwarzenegger, BTH Secretary Bonner, DMV Director Valverde, Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa, San Francisco Mayor Newsom, and Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez who is a strong advocate for spay & neutering as well as pet adoption.
Dog News Daily will devote a large portion of its blog to promote the creation of the "Spay. Neuter. Adopt. Love." license plate. To lend your support to this effort or to find out more information, you may contact Dog News Daily.
